Congratulations to New Highland Elementary School Music Teacher Kim Day! She has earned the 2026 Elementary School Music Teacher of the Year Award from the Kentucky Music Educators Association!

The owners and staff of Jones Home Center have once again presented the Hardin County Schools Residential Maintenance Program with a $1,500 gift of in-store credit.

The program will use those funds to purchase equipment and materials for student learning in the construction, heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical and heavy equipment classes.

REMINDER - Friday, December 19, 2025, is the last day of school before winter break. Students are out of school Monday, December 22, 2025, through Monday, January 5, 2026. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. January 5 is a Professional Learning Day for staff.

Important Weather Alert: Potential for Black Ice/Freezing Fog:

Current Conditions (3:25 PM, Dec 2, 2025): Snow has melted from most Hardin County roads.

Wednesday Morning Forecast: Meteorologists are forecasting conditions that may lead to black ice and/or freezing fog tomorrow morning, December 3, 2025.

We are sending this notice to inform all students, parents, and staff that a delay or cancellation is possible due to these potential hazards.

Decision Process:
HCS staff will inspect road conditions early Wednesday morning. The final decision on whether a delay or cancellation is necessary will be made at that time.

Notification Protocol:
If there is a delay or cancellation, we will notify all families, students, and staff immediately via our normal notification procedures. If you do not receive a notification, the district will be operating on its normal schedule.

The first installment of the inaugural Hardin County Schools Fall Orchestra Showcase was tremendous!!! This new program is helping students to reach new heights, boost confidence, grow individually and help them realize that performing as a group is important.

We appreciate the work that the students, Dr. Rubin and Dr. Miller have done to start this wonderful program!
