Laura Alford, Assistant Principal at Rineyville Elementary School, has been selected as the new principal at Heartland Elementary School.

“I’m excited about this wonderful opportunity,” Mrs. Alford said.  “I’ve been fortunate enough to have wonderful mentors and experiences to help me get to this point.  I have enjoyed my time at Rineyville Elementary and will also treasure the students, staff and families there.  Heartland Elementary is such a wonderful place for students to excel beyond their potential and I can’t wait to get started.”

Alford has served as the assistant principal at Rineyville for the past three-plus school years. She began her educational career in 2008 as a mathematics teacher at North Hardin High School. After three years at NHHS, she taught high school math for eight years at Central Hardin High School. Most recently, she taught dual-credit math and served as Academy Co-Lead Teacher at the Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center (EC3).

“I believe my role as an educator, no matter what position I hold, is to be an advocate for each and every student,” Mrs. Alford said. “Each student is a unique individual with different needs and desires. Heartland Elementary School has a rich tradition of helping students reach well beyond their goals. I am very excited to join the Heartland family and work alongside amazing educators, support staff, and families to help students flourish.”

“Mrs. Alford has the ability to create and nurture strong relationships with students,” Hardin County Schools Superintendent Teresa Morgan said. “She connects data with strong teaching and effective strategies.  Many HCS alums were ready for the rigors of college math because of her ability to help students succeed. Rineyville Elementary parents can also speak to her kindness and dedication to student growth. She will serve the students, families, and staff at Heartland Elementary in those same ways.”

Mrs. Alford earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Kentucky University.  She also earned her Rank I in Administration from WKU.
