HCS HIGH SCHOOLS FIRM UP CLASS OF 2021 GRADUATION PLANS

firmed up graduation plans

The Hardin County Schools high schools gave seniors and their parents a choice this week regarding graduation.

In mid-March, HCS announced that each high school would conduct graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021 in two separate events:

  • Seniors will gather in socially distanced assemblies in their caps and gowns during a school day near the end of the school year.  Only seniors and school administrators will attend. This event will include speeches from class officers, principals and HCS Superintendent Teresa Morgan.  It will be live-streamed over Hardin County Educational and Community Television’s (HCEC-TV) YouTube channel.
  • Similar to last year’s ceremonies, seniors will be provided with appointment times to come to their high school - with up to ten (10) family members - to receive their diploma and walk across the graduation stage.

Earlier this week, the Commonwealth of Kentucky announced that larger gatherings are allowed with limited capacities.  Knowing that some have expressed a desire to have a "traditional" graduation ceremony should limitations change from when the above plans were announced in March, administrators decided to survey seniors and their parents.

After tabulating the survey results, the schools announced the following to their seniors and parents today:

  • Central Hardin High School will conduct its ceremonies as previously planned.  There will be a seniors-only event on May 20, 2021, at 9 am.  This will be live-streamed on Hardin County Educational and Community Television’s (HCEC-TV) YouTube channel.  A link will be available on the HCS website – hardin.kyschools.us.  Seniors will receive appointment times to come to the school with ten family members/friends and walk the stage to receive their diploma.
  • John Hardin High School will conduct a “traditional” ceremony with a limited capacity at Bulldog Stadium on the JHHS campus on May 21 at 7 pm.  Each senior will receive six tickets to give to family/friends.  Should inclement weather move the ceremony inside to Bulldog Gymnasium, each senior will receive four tickets for family/friends.  It will also be live-streamed on HCEC-TV YouTube channel.
  • North Hardin High School will conduct its ceremonies as previously planned.  There will be a seniors-only event on May 20, 2021 at 1:30 pm.  This will be live-streamed on HCEC-TV’s YouTube channel.  A link will be available on the HCS website – hardin.kyschools.us.  Seniors will receive appointment times to come to the school with ten family members/friends and walk the stage to receive their diploma.
  • Hardin County High School / GED graduates will receive appointments to come to College View Education Center with ten family members/friends and walk the stage to receive their diploma.
