Sample Elementary OLA Schedule

Due to possible loss of instruction in Spring 2020 and the focus in HCS on foundational basics in elementary, the OLA will focus on the core subjects - literacy and math. Other subjects will be integrated.

-The teacher will lead the discussion or give direct instruction on digital tools, digital citizenship, time management, or any general class problems that arise.

- Working with small groups at the students’ levels in age-appropriate time chunks (15-30 minutes)

- Students should receive small group instruction at least 3 times a week

- Independent reading (with expectations set by the teacher) 

- Supplementary programs (iRead, Pathblazers, etc) 

- Independent practice of skills assigned by the teacher

- Check-in with each family and discuss progress once every 3 weeks for 15 minutes

- This will be a structured conversation and teachers will send data beforehand 

- This is in lieu of progress reports 

- First 3-week cycle can be introductory and to answer questions
