A KSI block is provided in the OLA schedule. The district’s KSI expectations will remain the same for the OLA students. A document will be provided to OLA staff that lists all active KSI students. The student’’s KSI folder will need to be requested from their homeschool. OLA teams will discuss and make a plan for how this will look during the block of time. KSI services should begin within the first week of school for the current KSI students. Two data points per week should be collected for progress monitoring.
Continue to use the universal screener (MAP) along with student work evidence to identify students. Remember that Tier 2 and Tier 3 must look different with the amount of time given and/or type of intervention. Please give 6 weeks of core instruction (Tier 1) before placing a student in KSI. The school psychologist that you will contact about a possible referral will be the one assigned to that student’s particular school. To begin the KSI process you will need to contact the child’s homeschool nurse for the vision screening and the homeschool speech pathologist for the hearing screening. If a student in KSI transfers back to in-person, please forward the folder to that school as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need further KSI support please contact HCS Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction Stacy Brawner.
