Three Hardin County Schools VEX IQ Challenge teams have qualified for the World Championship VEX IQ Challenge in April.
According to robotevents.com, “the VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.”
Two Lincoln Trail Elementary School VEX IQ teams formed an alliance in the final round to win the Kentucky VEX IQ Elementary State Championship this past weekend at Creekside Elementary School, another HCS school. A team from Vine Grove Elementary School formed an alliance with a team from Stamping Ground Elementary (Stamping Ground, KY) to earn second place at state. All four of these teams qualify for the World Championships VEX IQ Challenge at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville.
Lincoln Trail Elementary VEX IQ teams 26667X and 26667Y formed the championship alliance. VEX IQ Team 26667X also earned the Design Award and VEX IQ Team 26667Y earned the Excellence Award.
The following students are on VEX IQ Team 26667X (aka “May the VEX Be With You”): Hibiki Fujinaga, Sakura Fujinaga, Lilly Marlow, Loren Macy, Ellee Smith and Mariana Resto-Santos.
The students on VEX IQ Team 2667Y (aka “Those Guys”) are Cole Fegett, Kolton George, Tristin Hansel, Archer Jones, Kaleb Powell and Jacob Ray. Both teams are made up of fourth and fifth graders.
The following fifth grade students comprise Vine Grove Elementary School’s VEX IQ Team 11721B: Durelle Loggins, Eli McCary, Evan Newcomb, Cameron Price and Andrew Scott.
